It’s Cheese and Wine night and we’ve invited over 6 guests, which will make 8 in all, including ourselves.  The plan is to enjoy a sumptuous range of cheeses, cold meats and most important of all, my favourite red and white wines. Might even throw in a bottle of Prosecco to kick things off with.

As we were having more people than normal, I did a quick raid on the shop to get the necessary items to help make the evening great.

We’re Going to Need a Bigger Board

Wine glorious Wine, I’m trying these beautifully sculpted Tipperary Crystal Sapphire Wine glasses, for the pure volume of wine they can hold, nearly half a bottle if necessary. May have to control the pouring myself. Or the 16 bottles of wine won’t last very long.

Retro or What!

While I was in the shop, I thought I’d add a bit of retro with these fifties style glass plates. These will go a treat with the serving board. They’re also oven proof, so I can get the good wife to make me one of her delicious apple tarts once the hangover has worn off.

Olives – Love them or hate them!

Don’t think there is any middle ground on olives. My partner loves them and I can’t stand them – meant to mean a match made in Heaven. So, on instruction from herself, I had to make sure I grabbed an appetiser set. These are also perfect for pouring oil or balsamic vinegar into for dipping. Or add spoons if you’re like me and you hate watching people double-dip 😊.

The best thing about my little raid in the shop was that all of these items worked out at just below €140 for everything.

For the nit-picky amongst you, it’s true there are only 6 wine glasses in the set above, and I said we had a party of 8. Guests should always get the good ware. After all, I’m more than happy to drink my wine from an old mug if I have to ​​😂.
